A lot to see
A city of ancient and illustrious origin that dates back to the Iberian civilization, Baeza is located in the geographical center of the province of Jaén, near the Guadalquivir River, in a landscape of fertile lands of orchards, olive groves and cereal fields. Surrounding it you can find La Laguna Grande, the largest natural area in the province and famous for its ecological wealth.
The city of Baeza is pure Renaissance splendor, and its streets alternate with unique buildings that will transport you to that era: Palaces such as the Jabalquinto, the Cathedral, the Puerta de Ubeda, the Convent of San Francisco, the Plaza del Pópulo, and an endless number of buildings that alternate with fountains, towers and the typical whitewashed houses of Andalusia, with their white walls and barred balconies.
Because of the beauty and balance it gives off, Baeza was the inspiration of Antonio Machado, in whose institute he taught, or of San Juan de la Cruz, who finished his work “Cántico espiritual” there. Together with the city of Úbeda, they form an essential ensemble in a province with an impressive natural environment.
Let a certified guide show you Baeza as you could never have imagined it.
